As a substitute Paraeducator and under the direction and supervision of the building principal or designee, this position will substitute for regular district staff on an as-needed basis.
Provide instructional support in the classroom under the supervision of the teacher.
Work with individual students or small/large groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skill initially introduced by the teacher.
Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
Assist in preparing instructional materials for classroom use.
Alert the regular teacher to any problem concerning an individual student.
Assist students with health-related needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Washington State driver’s license or evidence of mobility.
Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.

Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from the hire date.
Possess high moral and ethical standards.
Possess good communication skills.
Demonstrate mature behavior and ability to use sound judgment, make independent decisions, and take appropriate action while following established procedures and guidelines.
Possess adequate health and physical strength necessary in assisting student mobility and relocation.
Demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships with students.
Flexibility to adjust work pace to meet the demands of changing workload.
Exhibit a professional attitude at all times and a willingness to work cooperatively with students, staff, co-workers, management, and the public.
