About The Position

The Substitute Classified Para Educator position is designed for individuals who can provide support to students and staff in an educational setting. This role requires effective communication skills, punctuality, and the ability to work independently while following specific instructions. The position involves custodial care activities, monitoring student activities, and ensuring compliance with school rules. The substitute educator will work under the supervision of certificated staff and must be able to relate positively with students, parents, and other staff members.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Successful clearance of Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint criminal history background check.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Punctuality and reliability in completing tasks without direct supervision.
  • Ability to relate positively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to work effectively with small groups or individual students under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Always punctual and informs supervisor of absences in advance.
  • Maintains a neat and clean appearance appropriate for the job assignment.
  • Performs custodial care activities such as lifting and feeding students, and assisting with hygiene needs including toileting and grooming.
  • Lifts up to fifty (50) pounds as required.
  • Follows specific instructions promptly and accurately, maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Adheres to a duty schedule with flexibility for changes.
  • Implements prescribed behavior plans as assigned.
  • Applies appropriate discipline according to district procedures and behavior plans.
  • Builds positive relationships with all students.
  • Monitors activities to ensure safety and compliance with school rules.
  • Provides emergency first aid as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
