About The Position

The Substitute Nurse actively promotes and models holistic health and wellness for the Sizer School community. They provide nursing care and collaborate with teachers and staff as well as outside agencies to promote positive health and wellness outcomes for all students and staff of Sizer School.

Requirements

• Must have a valid license (MA RN) to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts
• Current BLS certification in CPR and AED
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience working with adolescents and effectiveness in relating with students and their families
• Must pass CORI and National Criminal Background Check

Nice To Haves

• 1-2 years of experience as a school nurse or related pediatric nursing experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide school nursing care for the students and staff of Sizer School
• Conduct physical assessments and interventions as needed
• Administer scheduled medications to students and PRN "as needed" medications to both students and staff
• Maintain electronic student health records
• Provide first aid response and care to staff and students as needed
• Manage medical emergencies and respond to emergent crisis situations
• Assist students in accessing additional health care if needed
• Communicate with families related to student updates/needs
• Maintain the Health Office while the School Nurse Leader is not in the building
