The Substitute RN/Clinic position at Northwest Independent School District involves maintaining standard clinic activities in the absence of the school nurse. The role promotes health, well-being, and academic achievement of all students by performing assessments of health disorders and providing appropriate treatment and/or medical interventions as ordered by the students' physician. The RN will provide direct patient care utilizing professional assessment skills, the nursing process, and established school health protocols, while also ensuring timely documentation of patient care. In emergency situations, the RN will notify parents of accidents or illnesses and secure medical care for students if parents or emergency contacts cannot be reached. The position requires serving as a health care advocate for students, maintaining a safe and orderly clinic environment, and ensuring confidentiality for all students and staff members receiving care. The RN will administer medications and treatments according to NISD guidelines, present a positive role model for students, and take necessary precautions to protect students and facilities. Additionally, the RN will assess, document, and provide care to NISD staff members who are injured during their job duties, maintain professional relationships, and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
