About The Position

Dedicated School Staffing is proud to support Avon Lake City Schools for the recruitment of substitute school based employment opportunities. Substitute monitors play an important role in our schools by ensuring that students have a safe, orderly and supportive environment. Lunch Responsibilities Assists students with lining up to receive their lunches. Supervises students outside on playground areas. Monitors/controls noise level within the cafeteria. Monitors/controls behavior of students during lunch services. Helps students open containers/packages that they may be unable to open themselves. Wipes down tables and monitors/helps students clean up their individual areas. Sweeps up floor areas that may have debris. Monitors floors for any spills, and cleans up immediately in order to avoid any falls from occurring. Sets up and tears down tables and chairs. Ensures that students are never left unattended. Keeps students safe and engaged. Understands building and classroom policy and procedures. Library Responsibilities Catalogs materials. Assists students/staff with the retrieval of information and materials. Maintains an orderly circulation system Processes loans and returns and prepares overdue notices Keeps books, periodicals, pamphlets, etc., properly shelved Inventories the library collection and media equipment as directed Helps students/staff use library/media computers, peripherals, and equipment (e.g., videos, CD-ROMs, audio tapes, etc.). Assists teachers with the operation of audio-visual equipment To notify the principal as soon as possible before 6:30 a.m. the morning of absence in the event of illness or absence. Study Hall Responsibilities Maintains proper classroom discipline and for the general conduct of any and all students. Ensures that students are never left unattended in the classroom. Keeps students safe and engaged. Understands building and classroom policy and procedures.

Requirements

  • Clean criminal background.
  • Three (3) positive professional references.
  • Experience working with school aged children.
  • Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide Permit ($25), or higher license.
  • FBI & BCI Background checks dated within 12 months (Cost varies per agency).
