About The Position

Lunch Supervisors in elementary schools have many tasks that they must execute in order to ensure that the day moves along smoothly for everyone. Lunchroom supervisors oversee meal service for elementary school students. Duties record and maintain proper meal temperatures, distribution of meals and milk to students according to district and government regulations, supervision of students as directed by the school principal, deposit of student payments and scanning of tickets or Id's, reconciliation of cash, run end of the day reports for participation and deposits, general housekeeping duties such as cleaning school kitchen/serving area, and cleaning lunch tables. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED program.
  • Must be able to relate to and enjoy being around children.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with a wide variety of people.
  • Must be able to demonstrate fundamental math skills.
  • Must be able to physically perform all duties associated with the position.
  • Moderate lifting bending and prolonged periods of standing and circulating are required.
  • Fluent in Reading, Writing and Speaking English.

Responsibilities

  • Assist children during lunch by open their milk, snacks, juices or lunches.
  • Help children with packaged condiments or fruit.
  • Assist children with lunch in the classroom.
  • Deposit student money, scan lunch tickets or Id's, count cash and run end of the day report for participation and deposit.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of tables and surrounding areas.
  • Take note of allergies.
  • Make sure students are properly seated.
  • Ensure noise level remains at a decent level.
  • Look out for misbehavior.
  • Inform principal or designee of any misbehaved students, notify the principal immediately in the event of medical problems and injuries.
  • Maintain cleanliness of milk coolers and heating cabinets weekly.
  • Record and maintain proper meal temperatures.
  • Wipe tables down.
  • Line students up in a nice orderly, quiet line and take them to recess.
  • Watch the children at recess.
  • Line the kids up and walk them back to the building and make sure they are quiet.
  • Wait with students until their teacher arrives.
  • Any other duties, responsibilities or projects as directed by the Principal /or Nutrition Services Coordinator.
