The Substitute Custodian position involves replacing permanent Kent School District employees when they are absent and being part of the pre-qualified hiring pool. Selected candidates may be considered for full-time or part-time positions as they develop. These AFT positions are on-call assignments. Custodians are responsible for maintaining an assigned area and performing all necessary housekeeping and preventive maintenance tasks to provide a clean, safe, and healthy environment for students, staff, and the community. Employees generally start as substitutes for absent custodians and then are considered for permanent positions.
