About The Position

Perform custodial assignments to maintain a clean and safe building and grounds within the assigned area. Provide support for all school and extracurricular activities authorized by the school district. Achieve and maintain good rapport with staff and students. Adhere to conduct and appearance standards prescribed by district policy. OPEN UNTIL FILLED Screening for minimum qualifications and district screening will be conducted on a rolling basis and may be extended to ensure a robust and competitive applicant pool. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures. Clean chalkboards, whiteboards and erasers, dust and wipe furniture, sweep and mop or vacuum floors, empty wastebaskets and recycling bins. Clean and buff floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets. Wash windows and walls. Assist in other maintenance of buildings as required such as changing florescent tube lights, etc. Be responsive to needs of faculty, staff and students. Stay abreast of established safety practices and hazardous materials including maintenance of MSDS sheets. Be alert for all things needing attention or repair both inside the buildings and on the grounds. Maintain building security beyond regular hours. Observe Code of Professional Conduct of Education Practitioners (Chapter 180-87 WAC). Set up facilities for special purposes including lunch, programs, assemblies, etc. Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and parking lots, when needed. Know location of all service shut-offs in building (i.e. hot/cold water, gas, electricity, etc.) Know how to use and operate all types of fire extinguishers. Have a basic knowledge of climate control systems, as needed. Perform summer maintenance and associated tasks, as required. Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor and/or building principal. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the effective operation of the building and grounds. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED Clearance for state and national background checks as a result of fingerprinting; successfully pass criminal records check Must have a Washington State driver's license. Must complete a physical examination. Perform tasks requiring heavy lifting and hauling of over 50 pounds which includes (but is not limited to) the following: walking up stairs, lifting garbage sacks above shoulders and throwing into dumpsters, and using fire hose to wash down buildings, sidewalks and parking lot. Knowledge of cleaning equipment and supplies. Be able to get along with faculty, students and clerical personnel including supervisors. Be able to conform to oral and written directions. Be able to work with a minimum of supervision. Be able to climb ladders and scaffolds. Must be willing to learn use of Email system for communication.
