About The Position

The position involves custodial duties within the Eastmont School District, requiring the use of power equipment and hand tools for cleaning and general maintenance of various facilities. The working hours are approximately 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on regular school days and 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on non-school days. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing toilets, emptying wastebaskets, setting up furniture for events, maintaining building security, and performing minor repairs. The role also requires flexibility to work day shifts during the school year and summer months, as well as the ability to work with evening groups utilizing the facility.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Prior custodial experience required.
  • Knowledge of efficient custodial practices and equipment use.
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work well with children.
  • Knowledge of heating, ventilation, sanitation, and care of school buildings.
  • Knowledge of inventorying, ordering, and storing supplies.
  • Knowledge of floor refinishing and carpet care.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use a computer for work requests and functions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships.
  • Must maintain a neat and clean personal appearance.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality are a must.

Responsibilities

  • Use power equipment and hand tools for cleaning and maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture.
  • Clean and sanitize toilets and fixtures.
  • Empty wastebaskets and trash containers; clean chalkboards and dust furniture.
  • Set up and remove furniture for special events.
  • Replace light bulbs and restroom supplies; issue linen and bedding.
  • Close the building each evening and help maintain security.
  • Wash windows and mirrors.
  • Clean sidewalks and driveways; rake leaves and mow grass.
  • Read and interpret written instructions and service orders.
  • Perform other duties as required by the building principal.
  • Maintain sprinkler/irrigation systems and perform small repairs.
  • Work with evening groups utilizing the facility.
  • Support and implement school district policies and procedures.
  • Submit records and reports promptly and efficiently.
  • Adjust to new approaches in performing duties and multi-task in a busy environment.
  • Seek opportunities for professional growth and promote good staff morale.
