About The Position

The Custodian position is responsible for performing major cleaning tasks and maintaining cleanliness in various facilities. The role requires effective interpersonal skills and the ability to perform essential job functions, including lifting and moving items as needed. The position reports to the Custodial Supervisor and involves working in a school environment under a 4-day school week schedule.

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Ability to perform the essential job functions.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Effective grooming skills.
• Ability to lift 55 pounds to shoulder height occasionally.
• Ability to push/pull a minimum of 20 pounds frequently.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Perform major cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, wet-mopping, sweeping, dusting, and emptying the trash.
• Clean restrooms, including floors and all fixtures, ensuring they are clean and disinfected.
• Wash windows and sills.
• Perform ongoing tasks such as replacing light bulbs and filling dispensers.
• Set up facilities for student and adult use, lifting furniture and boxes as needed.
• Make minor building repairs and report significant repairs to the Custodial Supervisor.
• Ensure that all doors and windows are appropriately locked.
• Walk up and down stairs and perform regular bending and standing as needed.
