This position involves providing health services to students, including administering first aid, managing medication, and conducting health screenings, all in accordance with District and State guidelines. The role requires determining if students should remain in the health office, performing and documenting vital signs, and assisting students with personal daily needs. Additionally, the individual will maintain and update student health records and reports. The position also includes observing students for emotional, behavioral, and non-medical needs, making appropriate referrals. Clerical duties for both the health and main office areas, such as preparing lunch applications, tracking attendance, data entry, typing, filing, answering telephones, and managing supplies, are also part of the role. The substitute will provide office clerical coverage when secretarial staff are absent. Under the supervision and direction of a registered professional nurse, the individual will perform routine health-related tasks and consult on unusual or difficult problems. Specialized procedures like urinary catheterization, gastric tube feedings, diabetes management, and seizure disorder management may be required after proper training. The role also involves reporting student health status to staff, bus drivers, and parents, and conducting various health screenings. For licensed nurses, adherence to Florida Statute 464 is required. This position is for the 26/27 school year.
