Canal Alliance exists to break the generational cycle of poverty for Latino immigrants and their families by lifting barriers to their success. The Substitute Citizenship Teacher provides classes to adult students preparing for their naturalization exam. The teacher has both background in working with adult English language learners and teaching civics and U.S. history. They are also a passionate believer in culturally responsive teaching and the power of education to improve the lives of immigrants and their families. The Citizenship classes take place on weekday evenings from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Some are in-person and others are via Zoom; the Substitute Citizenship Teacher must be able to teach both in-person and on Zoom.
