About The Position

Special School District (SSD) bus drivers support students throughout St. Louis County by ensuring they are transported to school in a safe and supportive manner each day. Your commitment to creating a welcoming climate on your bus where students feel valued and cared for will positively impact their educational experience. By also managing student behavior with the support of your monitor and following all safety regulations, you will help us realize our mission of supporting and empowering students to excel to their greatest potential. Substitute bus drivers work up to 5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, on an AS-NEEDED basis. This position does not guarantee daily route work and will include postings at countywide locations based on need. Special School District serves nearly 25,000 students and employs over 5,700 staff in St. Louis County. Requirements

  • Education transportation experience preferred
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Must be 21 or older at time of hire
  • Currently hold or qualify for a Class B Commercial Driver’s License, a School Bus Driver’s endorsement and passenger endorsement (may obtain through District provided training) required
  • Must hold a current drivers license with an excellent driving record
