Requirements

• CDL with a P and S endorsement (training is available to acquire CDL)

Responsibilities

• Drives bus to transport students over specified routes according to time schedule.
• Obeys all traffic laws.
• Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintains discipline and enforces regulations when students are on bus.
• Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
• Keeps assigned bus clean.
• Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
• Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
• Keeps to assigned schedule.
• Discharges students only at authorized stops.
• Exercises responsible leadership when on out of district school trips.
• Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
• Performs evacuation drills twice yearly.
• Completes annual training consisting of not less than (6) hours.
• Undergoes DOT physical examination every two years, more frequent if required by Physician.
• Takes drug and alcohol testing as required.
