About The Position

The Substitute Bus Aide position involves monitoring students while they ride the bus, assisting them in entering and exiting the bus, and ensuring their safety and well-being. The role requires physical capability to lift and manage preschool and special needs children when necessary. The aide will work closely with the bus driver to ensure safety and efficiency in the transfer of students, adhering to all district policies and transportation guidelines. Confidentiality is paramount, and the aide must provide leadership by enforcing pupil behavior on the bus. The position also requires the aide to employ various strategies to manage student behavior and conflict, attend required training and in-service annually, and perform other duties as assigned by school administrators.

Requirements

• Current favorable BCII (State) and FBI (Federal) background checks
• Rapback Enrollment
• Negative drug screen
• Ohio Auditor of State Fraud Reporting & Training

Responsibilities

• Monitor students while riding the bus in accordance with their needs
• Assist students entering and exiting the bus in accordance with their needs
• Physically capable of safely and appropriately lifting and managing preschool and special needs children when necessary
• Work as a team with the bus driver to ensure safety and efficiency in the transfer of students
• Shall adhere to all District policies, and Transportation guidelines while on the bus and at the transfer locations
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Provide leadership by enforcing pupil behavior while on the bus
• Ensure that students are in a safe, secure environment at all times
• Employ a variety of strategies to manage student behavior and conflict
• Must attend required training and in-service annually
• All other duties consistent with the general job description as assigned by the Building Administrators, Department Supervisor, Superintendent, or designee
