About The Position

Position: Substitute teacher associate The classroom associate is supervised by a classroom or special education teacher and may do a variety of tasks throughout the school day. The following are some of the tasks that might be assigned to a classroom associate. Additional tasks may be assigned by the teacher or principal from time to time as needed. Associate tasks may change from day to day or throughout the year, thus it is important for teacher associates to be flexible and have a willingness to perform a variety of tasks as needed. Associate schedules are determined by the building principal based on student needs. Position: Substitute Teacher FCSD needs substitute teachers at all levels. Applicants need to upload a copy of their Iowa teaching certificate, substitute certifcation, substitute authorization, or documentation showing pending certification from the Board of Education Examiners. A cover letter and resume are optional. Additionally there is training certification that needs to be completed by all substitutes: Bloodborne Pathogens, FERPA, Mandatory Reporter-both Child and Dependent Adult, Suicide Pre and Postvention, Chapter 103, Bullying/ Harassment Prevention and Intervention-Foundations and Title IX.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Applicants need to upload a copy of their Iowa teaching certificate, substitute certifcation, substitute authorization, or documentation showing pending certification from the Board of Education Examiners.

Responsibilities

  • Riding in a school vehicle to transport a student to/from school.
  • Accompanying individual student(s) to each recess and/or breakfast and lunch.
  • Instructing individual or small groups of students under the supervision and planning of a teacher.
  • Accompanying students to special classes (art, music, PE) and on field trips.
  • Implementing and monitoring student behavior plans under the supervision of a classroom or special education teacher (may include physically removing a student from the classroom and taking for a time out).
  • Supervising a classroom for a short period of time under the supervision of another teacher or the building principal.
  • Before and after school supervision of students.
  • Recess duty
  • Lunch or breakfast duty
  • Hall duty
  • Clerical tasks for teachers, including such things as preparing materials for lessons, helping with bulletin boards, checking papers, and laminating.
