About The Position

NeighborImpact’s Head Start program is a comprehensive early education program serving children and families in Central Oregon. It integrates high-quality pre-kindergarten education with essential services such as health, nutrition, and family advocacy. Operating across multiple sites, NeighborImpact Head Start supports social competence, school readiness, and overall well-being of children from ages three to five.

Requirements

  • Associate or baccalaureate degree with a minimum of 12 ECE credits or equivalent.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, which is equivalent to Step 7 on the Oregon Registry.
  • Current enrollment in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree in ECE or equivalent.
  • Current enrollment in a child development associate credential (CDA) program to be completed within 2 years AND High school diploma or GED.
  • Diploma and transcripts are required to validate associate’s degree in early childhood education/related field and to verify ECE/related coursework.
  • Competency with Microsoft applications required.
  • Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children’s needs required.
  • This position is rated as active and occasionally requires the individual to lift 50 pounds.
  • Food Handler’s Card required prior to date of hire and throughout employment.
  • Current enrollment in the OR Child Care Division-Criminal History Registry (CBR) required.
  • Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Must have an initial health examination, and a periodic re-examination as recommended by health care provider.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • 6 months experience in a preschool setting preferred.
  • Head Start parent or past parent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the teaching team to enhance students’ learning and development.
  • Create a safe and engaging classroom environment under the guidance of the Teacher Advocate.
  • Lead the classroom during the Teacher’s breaks or absences.
  • Plan and conduct various gross motor and small group activities daily.
