The Substitute Assistant Cook will serve as an assistant and follow direction from the Head Cook and Food Service Supervisor. The position involves preparing healthy, nutritious, and tasty food, using appropriate portion sizes for each meal component, and performing various food preparation, serving, and cleaning duties. The assistant cook is expected to follow sanitation standards set by the Health Department and operate the Point of Sales System as needed. Attendance at meetings or in-services as required by the Supervisor is also part of the role. In the absence of the Head Cook, the Substitute Assistant Cook will take over the responsibilities according to seniority. The position requires a neat and clean appearance and a cooperative and professional manner to create a good working environment for students, staff, co-workers, and the public. Additional tasks may be designated by the Head Cook, building Principal, or Food Service Supervisor.
