Perform installation, tests, maintenance/repair of various types of relays and electronic equipment/electrical instruments to transmission and distribution systems. Perform installation, tests, maintenance/repair of various types of relays and electronic equipment/electrical instruments to transmission and distribution systems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform system integrity checks on all microprocessors, solid state, and electromechanical relays as well as all communications systems and control. Test control circuits on substation breakers and other related equipment, as well as calibrate electric indicating equipment. Ensure all substation/transmission NERC standards and regulations are adhered to. Set up and maintain JMUX fiber communications network. Program, test, inspect, and commission the controls for the devices that make up the Distribution Automation (DA) system. Provide technical expertise and guidance for all substations electronic devices/relays. Analyze, read, and verify protection blueprints to ensure relay circuits are built to standard. Analyze/verify control circuit current and potential wiring to relay elements; making corrections/additions to relay schemes as needed. Perform post-event analysis and review of protection system operations. Provide necessary information for system enhancements after investigation BES fault disturbances to determine fault source and location. Design and fabricate special relay circuits/devices as needed. Analyze, test, repair service powerline carrier equipment, wave traps, uninterruptible power supply systems, capacitor banks, regulators, reclosures, and sectionalizes and their associated controls. Troubleshoot voltage complaints and coordinate and guide crews in installation, repair, and maintenance of Remote Telemetry Units (RTUs). Perform substation switching on breakers, line and bus switches, and other equipment as needed. Maintain records of all repairs, test results, adjustments, program changes, and/or modifications to substation protection systems. Adhere to all Division and OHSA safety rules and practices. Operate Division vehicles (trucks, bucket trucks), test equipment, and radios as needed. Perform other duties as directed.
