Gainesville Regional Utilities, the 5th largest municipal electric utility in Florida, is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Engineer III) who will perform independent, professional and technical Engineering work for an electric utility with limited supervision. The successful candidate will be required to support a wide variety of engineering projects, both as an individual contributor, project leader, and team leader. To be considered for this position you must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field, from an ABET accredited educational institution. A level Engineer III position will require at least 4 years' experience as an engineer with emphasis on protection and controls associated with power substations. Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under general supervision receiving instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features; assistance furnished on unusual problems. Work in this class is distinguished from other classes by its limited supervisory responsibility and lack of policy interpretation, and by its emphasis on independent fully competent application of standard engineering principles to engineering problems having clear and specified objectives, interpretation of data, and requiring investigation of a limited number of variables. Note: The Engineer 3 / Utility Designer 3 classification is the third in a series of four Engineer / Utility Designer Classifications of progressively more demanding job competencies and engineering duties.
