POWER Engineers is seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer/Designer specializing in substation protection and control (P&C) design. This role offers flexibility to work remotely, hybrid, or onsite from the Fort Mill, South Carolina office. The engineer/designer will collaborate with the department to produce high-quality designs that align with the company's mission and client needs.

  • Perform and direct detailed design of medium to high-voltage utility substations.
  • Create one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, and conduit and cable sizing/routing.
  • Select substation P&C equipment and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Support the department in achieving goals and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Promote internal teamwork and meet client needs.
  • BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering), BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, Associate's degree, or equivalent technical education.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in utility substation design, specifically in 15kV through 138kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.
  • Ability to develop detailed P&C substation design and drawing packages with minimal oversight.
  • Experience filling the substation P&C design engineer role for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.
  • Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
  • Engineer In Training certificate (EIT) or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Professional Engineering license (PE) is a plus.
  • Experience in 230kV through 500kV substation design.
  • Experience with MicroStation (V8 or newer) or AutoCAD (2016 or newer).
  • Experience performing P&C design in AutoCAD Electrical.
