Summary Our Deer Valley Substation Construction team has an immediate opening for a Substation Journeyman . The work hours for this position are Monday-Friday 6:00AM - 2:30PM (AZ/MST) The established headquarters for this position is subject to relocation to the Hub West Service Center, a facility that will be located 38 miles west of downtown Phoenix, on a date to be determined by the Company.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Completed a Registered Electrician Apprenticeship Program OR an equivalent training program (as approved by APS T&D Technical & Safety Training)
• One (1) year experience as an Electrician
• Commercial Driver’s License (Class “A”) with ability to meet all DOT requirements. Must have at least a Class A CDL permit at the time of application, and a clean driving record. If applying with a CDL Permit, a valid Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes)) must be obtained prior to the official transfer/start date. If applying with an out-of-state CDL, a valid Arizona Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes)) must be obtained within 30 days of the official transfer/start date.
• Subject to overtime and or/ out-of-town assignments
• Must live within reasonable distance (one (1) hour) of headquarters.
• This position requires working with aerial equipment, which has weight restrictions of 300lbs or less
• This position may require access to and/or use of information subject to control under the Department of Energy's Part 810 Regulations (10 CFR Part 810), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730 through 774), or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Chapter I, Subchapter M Part 120) (collectively, 'U.S. Export Control Laws'). Therefore, some positions may require applicants to be a U.S. person, which is defined as a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), a Political Asylee, or a Refugee under the U.S. Export Control Laws. All applicants will be required to confirm their U.S. person or non-US person status. • For positions at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Stations (PVNGS) all openings will require applicants to be a U.S. person.
• This position requires Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) access consistent with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards. The applicant considered for this role will be required to obtain and maintain CIP access for the duration of employment in this position. A full seven (7) year criminal history will be obtained through the pre-employment background check process (or, for current employees, through supplemental background check process) to fulfill the CIP access requirements. In addition, this position requires an additional background check every seven years to maintain access.

Nice To Haves

• Considerable experience performing journeyman-level high voltage substation duties with an electric utility or other entity operating and maintaining high voltage substation equipment preferred
• Experienced in writing and executing switching orders, and basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
