Position Summary Xcel Energy is seeking candidates to support our Substation Field Engineering Organization in Colorado. This paid internship provides practical and hands-on training in the substation area which includes supporting the engineering operations. The program will allow you to apply what you’ve learned in school and further enhance your knowledge through hands-on training and provide opportunities to network and learn about other engineering organizations. Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Perform AC and DC auxiliary system calculations. Assist with substation engineering design and maintenance tasks. Support Field Engineers with inspections and projects. Learn to use various CAD systems (MicroStation and ProjectWise). Assist with processes and document updates.

Requirements

Current student, Freshman and above
Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in one of the following fields of study: design, automation, electronics, engineering, other related field of study.
Able to commute to the Lipan Distribution service center.
Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the spring (up to 20 hours a week).

Nice To Haves

3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher
Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of and ability to use Windows operating system and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
