The Substation Equipment Installer Manager is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and direction to the Substation Construction work group with statewide responsibilities for all major equipment installation and specialty equipment transportation required on substation projects that are part of the Georgia Power Transmission capital investment portfolio. This position will be responsible for ensuring that Installer crews and Switch test technicians have the training, equipment, and resources to successfully execute their projects. This position is also responsible for transformer and breaker capital commissioning overflow support for Transmission Maintenance Centers across the state. This role will provide guidance to a leadership team of a crew supervisor and four construction field managers who oversee 3 foreman with 42 covered employees, roughly 40 contract resources, 5 test technicians, 3 inspectors and an analyst working statewide. In addition, they will also be responsible for a crew supervisor with three foremen who oversee 39 covered employees. It is anticipated that this position will oversee roughly $7M in annual contractor spend for the foreseeable future. The Manager will conduct ongoing performance management and ensure robust plans for leadership development in support of an active learning environment. This position interfaces with Training and Safety to support the initial and ongoing training within Substation Construction. The manager will coordinate with peer Substation Construction managers, Specialty Mover and Rail Car Contractors, Project Management, Substation Design, Transmission Maintenance Centers, Transmission Support, Supply Chain Management, and other internal and external partners to ensure projects are completed on schedule and in a quality manner. The manager is responsible to lead the team in a Safety Excellence environment with a focus on learning and ensuring critical and operational risk plans are implemented. Major focus areas include safety, inclusion, performance management, employee development, training, quality assurance, and efficiency improvement. NOTE: This position has statewide responsibilities, and frequent travel within the state of Georgia is required – up to 25% of the time.
