About The Position

TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse Substation Engineering Interns for our Summer 2026 intern program out of our Augusta, ME Office. This is a paid full-time position. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2026 (flexible). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.

Requirements

• Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Basic experience of the engineering world and process.
• Ability to work both independently and in a project team with demonstrated oral communication, professional judgement and team building skills.
• Willingness to learn, and benefit from professional judgment and critique.
• Ambitious and driven when it comes to learning new things and working on new projects.
• Curious to be involved in an array of activities.
• Willing to be a problem solver and overcome issues along the way.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with engineering software applications (AutoCad, Solidworks, MathCad, ESRI, HydroCad, WaterCad, ARCView GIS, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Assisting engineers and designers in start to finish civil, structural, and environmental projects.
• Preparation of layouts, details, calculations, and bidding documents.
• Assisting manager level employees with high level management tasks, including gathering updates from team members.
• Preparation of drawings and calculations to assist in the process from concept to final design.
• Attending TRC STEP program meetings and educational seminars.
• Attending project team meetings and meetings with the assigned mentor.
• Reaching out to assist team members on projects and using any spare time to benefit from training modules for both software and calculations.
