We’re looking for a remote Substation Engineer located in the Pennsylvania area to lead substation design projects. This role blends technical expertise, project management, and client collaboration in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required
  • 5+ years of experience in transmission, distribution, or substation engineering
  • Strong knowledge of substation design, protection & control systems, and utility operations.
  • AutoCAD, MS Excel, and MS Word is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred
  • Working knowledge of applicable NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards and electric codes is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electric utility systems.
  • Experience in engineering and design of electrical substations.

Responsibilities

  • Support and lead substation engineering projects, including brownfield design, physical design, and protection & control systems.
  • Develop engineering designs and drawings, including one-line/three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and AC/DC schematics.
  • Provide technical consulting services across substation design, system support, and utility operations.
  • Manage projects from design through construction, including budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Conduct site visits for inspections, construction oversight, and quality assurance.
  • Support construction activities, including installation coordination, testing, and commissioning of electrical facilities.
  • Perform technical reviews and quality control to ensure compliance with engineering standards and client requirements.
