About The Position

This role is responsible to the assigned manager for performing entry level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. AEP’s Station Engineering team is looking for a Civil/Structural or Electrical engineer associate to join our team in Tulsa, OK. AEP offers challenging career development opportunities across our 11-state footprint, designing electrical substation layouts, managing multi-million-dollar projects and supporting our many engineering teams.

Requirements

  • This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET

Nice To Haves

  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.
  • VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a university with a Non-ABET accredited program

Responsibilities

  • Use engineering software tools to support design development & ensure accuracy in substation drawings & models
  • Assist in designing substation layouts & equipment configurations
  • Coordinate with other engineers to ensure integrated substation design
  • Participate in field visits & commissioning activities to gain hands-on experience with substation systems
  • Oil containment design (Civil/Structural)
  • Grounding, lightning shielding & lightning studies (Electrical)
