We anticipate the need for one Substation Electrician to be located at the Sioux Falls Service Center, in Sioux Falls, SD. The starting wage rate for this position will be $57.22 per hour (2025 rate) according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position will be posted for 10 working days from February 25, 2026, to March 10, 2026. Requires worker to construct, maintain, and operate facilities and equipment that relates to energized and de-energized distribution and transmission station equipment. Applicant must be self-motivated, work well with others, have a positive attitude and be committed to working safely. The applicant will be expected to respond to callout after normal work hours and weekends. The applicant will also be required to obtain knowledge on Company related software to complete their daily tasks. Applicant will be responsible for installing, constructing, inspecting, repairing and maintaining all electrical substation equipment such as: Cap banks, high voltage transformers, structures, conductors, conduits, switches, power circuit breakers, regulators, generators, motors, pumps, instrumentation, metering, control and other wiring. Individual will be responsible for obtaining and verifying proper clearances and be able to switch 345kv, 230kv, 115kv, and all distribution high voltages. Must have basic knowledge of National Electric Code, FERC, Hazmat, OSHA regulations. This list is not meant to be all inclusive list.

Requirements

  • Must currently be a Journeyman Lineman or Substation electrician.
  • Must have experience in Substation Operations and Maintenance
  • Must have a valid Minnesota class "A" driver's license
  • Must live within 20 miles of worksite or able to move within the next 6 months
  • Requires participation in emergency after hour callout
  • Demonstrates commitment to work productively and safely
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Required to complete training and check offs on pertinent equipment
  • Must have basic knowledge of National Electric Code, FERC, Hazmat, OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities
