  • Lead detailed CAD design of high voltage substation and switchyards. Design packages encompass creating the general arrangement from the operating single line diagram, site layouts, sections/elevations, bus and overhead conductor calculation/selections, ground grid, cable tray/trench/duct bank, yard lighting, lightning protection, prefabricated control building layouts, AC/DC station service supply, voltage drop, conduit/cable tray fill, bill of materials, etc.
  • Support the development of protection and control design packages encompassing P&C single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, etc.
  • Coordinate with renewable energy collector system, civil, structural and transmission line design and studies teams.
  • Interface with internal and external team members including electrical engineers, electrical designers, drafters, project managers, and take ownership of the project to meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Support development of standards, optimizations, and processes and provide execution plans with strong follow-through
  • Minimum of diploma or bachelors degree in drafting / electrical design
  • 5+ years related experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, and/or AutoCAD Map3D in power delivery (transmission and distribution systems for utilities or industrial), renewable energy, or power generation
  • Strong CAD skills with experience utilizing layers, blocks, XREFs, coordinate systems, annotations, and dimensioning while abiding by company and industry drafting standards
  • Must be authorized for full-time work in Canada
  • Ability to work on multi-discipline projects
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook with advanced MS Office skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and make recommendations
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment
  • Self-motivated and work with minimal guidance
  • 3D Modeling experience a plus
  • Experience with PVcase, PVCAD a plus
  • Knowledge of renewable energy industry relating to utility scale wind and solar projects, such as MV power systems and AC/DC distribution system a plus
  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems a plus
  • Understanding of applicable industry codes and standards including the ANSI/IEEE, NESC, NEC, CSA a plus
  • Manufacturer experience of power transformer, circuit breaker, AIS/GIS switchgear, AC/DC inverter, etc. a plus
