About The Position

NorthKey Community Care is seeking a full-time Substance Use Prevention Team Member to engage with individuals, families, and community organizations to provide prevention services related to alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) use and wellness activities throughout the Northern Kentucky community. This position will be part of a Regional Prevention Center (RPC) team. The hours for this position will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The main office will be at 502 Farrell Drive, Covington, KY 41011; However, this position will travel to the other offices as needed, specifically to Falmouth, KY, Williamstown, KY, Owenton, KY, Warsaw, KY, and Carrollton, KY. (mileage reimbursement provided).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Health Education, Social Work, Sociology, or related field.
  • Certified Prevention Professional credential required within three years of hire date.
  • Experience with marketing techniques and materials development.
  • Possess excellent public speaking, facilitation, and training skills.
  • Possess appropriate verbal, written, computer, and data-entry skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and/or training in program planning and evaluation are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment of available data, resources, and community readiness in every county of the region relative to the priority outcomes.
  • Technical Assistance and marketing services to encourage more widespread alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) prevention messaging throughout the region.
  • Expert assistance to community coalitions and participation in KY-ASAP and other groups that are planning prevention strategies.
  • Engagement of community agencies and organizations in science-based prevention efforts.
  • Market science-based prevention methods and strategies.
  • Utilize the federal Center for Substance Abuse Prevention six major strategies (information prevention education, environmental strategies, alternatives, community-based process, and problem identification and referral) to design comprehensive programs aimed at specific target audiences.
  • Participation in statewide prevention initiatives. Statewide initiatives may be developed at any time during the fiscal year.
  • Employ the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) to build capacity as well as create, implement, and evaluate work plans.
  • Outreach to priority populations as determined by the Division of Substance Abuse.
  • Accurately report relevant events and services in the Prevention Data System.
  • Develop appropriate protocols for assessing the outcomes of the program deliveries and environmental strategies.
  • Complete all professional development training that is state-supported and congruent with the ATOD prevention efforts and the prevention plan.
  • Assist the KY-Moms Program in marketing and training efforts as it relates to program requirements.
