About The Position

We are looking for a qualified individual to provide substance abuse assessment and counseling in a residential environment to women (who may attend treatment with their children). This candidate facilitates group and individual treatment in order to reduce the negative impact of the use of chemical and alcohol involvement. The role provides substance abuse assessment and counseling using a goal-oriented approach and employs therapeutic techniques that help clients improve their ability to manage their emotions, enhance their communication skills, and develop more effective coping skills. It also facilitates and conducts programs for participants in ways to reduce the negative impact of chemical and alcohol involvement.

Requirements

  • Must be certified (or registered) by a California recognized drug and alcohol certifying body (including 'trainee' categories)
  • Possession of an Associate of Arts degree in Mental Health and/or Alcohol and Other Drug Programs and one year of experience or three years' experience in a mental health or substance abuse setting. Experience in mental health or substance abuse field may be substituted for the degree.
  • May work across all agency programs as needed.
  • Occasional flexible work schedule required to meet individual client needs.
  • Must possess a valid CA Driver’s License, current auto insurance, and a clean DMV printout (no more than 3 points).
  • Must pass a clear background check with DOJ, CACI, FBI, CCL.
  • CPR and First Aid Certified.
  • TB Exam and Physical at the time of employment.
  • Employees must use a personal vehicle that meet all agency requirements, including maintaining liability insurance that meets or exceeds state requirements.
  • Employees are responsible for ensuring the timely renewal of their vehicle insurance policies and providing updated documentation to the agency to remain in good standing and compliant with position requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered or Certified AOD Counselor in the State of California, in good standing with prior training in counseling or addiction treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual and group drug and alcohol treatment using RCS approved best practice models and structures, including crisis intervention and referral to and collaboration with collateral services.
  • Provides case management, including maintenance of individual client files, group rosters, and group notes in the appropriate Electronic Health Record system.
  • Develops treatment plans with clients based on client goals and assessment results.
