About the position

The Substance Use Services Counselor is responsible for conducting formal assessments, determining appropriate levels of treatment and providing individual, group and as required, family sessions to a caseload of clientele. This position will function effectively as a member of a treatment team and represent the agency in a professional manner. Ongoing communication with referral sources and co-workers is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct formal assessments and determine appropriate levels of treatment.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions.
  • Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with referral sources and community resources to support client care.
  • Conduct and/or supervise CLIA-waived urine testing.

Requirements

  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in Iowa AND a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Candidates with a temporary CADC and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Master's degree and licensure (LMSW, LMHC, LMFT, or LISW) with experience in substance use treatment is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of community resources and treatment approaches.
