About The Position

As the Substance Use Assessment Clinician, you will be providing assessment and treatment planning ndividuals seeking mental health and substance use treatment.  This role provides same-day access for individuals ensuring timely and compassionate care. You will conduct intake, screening, and comprehensive assessments using IM+CANS and ASAM, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver crisis intervention services.

Requirements

  • Experience in providing clinical assessment & screening (e.g. provision of IM-CAN & ASAM), and/or other related experience (e.g. clinical familiarity with the DSM-5) is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in human service field
  • Graduate degree in counseling, clinical psychology, social work, or other human service fields
  • Certification as Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), LSW, or LPC preferred
  • Required to obtain certification (CADC) or licensure (LSW, LPC) within 2 years of employment
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • Reliable means of transportation
  • Knowledge of: Mental health and substance use disorders, evidence-based interventions, and recovery-oriented care.
  • Crisis intervention models and trauma-informed practices.
  • Community resources and systems of care for behavioral health.
  • Skills in: Conducting comprehensive assessments and developing treatment plans.
  • Applying de-escalation techniques and managing high-stress situations effectively.
  • Building rapport and engaging individuals seeking support with empathy and professionalism.
  • Abilities to: Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Respond flexibly to individuals needing an array of supports and referrals
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients, families, and community partners.
  • Maintain composure and sound judgment under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide same-day and/or scheduled assessments for individuals presenting mental health and/or substance use concerns.
  • Complete intake, screening, and diagnostic assessments using IM+CANS and ASAM criteria.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and coordinate referrals for ongoing services.
  • Deliver crisis intervention for individuals experiencing acute behavioral health symptoms.
  • Conducting risk assessments for suicide, self-harm, and violence.
  • Implementing de-escalation strategies and crisis stabilization techniques.
  • Creating safety plans and connecting individuals to appropriate levels of care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with agency and state standards.
