This temporary position is located at 633 Old Landfill Road, Taylorsville - Alexander County, with the Department of Adult Correction. The Alcoholism and Chemical Dependency Programs (ACDP) staff plans, administers and coordinates chemical dependency screening and substance use disorder treatment services within the Department of Adult Correction. This position is located at Alexander Correctional in Taylorsville, NC.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience working with individuals who are undergoing treatment for substance use disorders, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • The SAW position will facilitate psycho education groups and monitor client's therapeutic activities.
  • Model acceptable behaviors and attitudes for clients utilizing positive and healthy communications, encouraging cooperation and being consistent.
  • Attend staff meetings and training functions as required.
  • Utilize crisis intervention techniques to assist with crisis situations and inappropriate client behavior as needed.
  • Monitor designated meetings and treatment functions as needed.
  • Assist SAPC and Counselors with treatment, groups, and educational activities.
