About The Position

The Substance Abuse Technician Trainee position at Bernalillo County involves performing technical duties related to the treatment of substance abuse, specifically drug and alcohol addiction. Requirements

• High School Diploma and one (1) year of work experience involving substance abuse, healthcare, law enforcement, emergency management, or corrections.
• Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Obtain relevant information about clients through interviews, assessments, and case histories; assist and support clients through addiction detoxification and recovery.
• Work with other department staff to administer scheduled program curriculum and activities for substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation.
• Process new clients and complete pre-screening for all intakes.
• Provide education to individuals and groups in the community and facilitate group presentations and workshops under the lead technician's assistance.
• Transport clients to appointments and other service locations outside of the assigned program.
• Prepare case histories and document behavioral incidents through observation of clients, maintaining confidential records under the lead technician's assistance.
• Inform the assigned supervisor of any changes, adjustments, or complications with department protocols.
• Receive guidance and training from the Substance Abuse Technician - Program Supervisor within the division.
• Respond to routing inquiries on behalf of the department as needed.
• Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.
