About The Position

Performs intake, screening, assessment, and referral duties related to the operation of the Manatee County Drug Court. Regularly interacts with client population and other treatment and criminal justice agencies and officials. Note: This position has been designated by the Manatee County Commission as serving at the will and pleasure of the Chief Judge and may be terminated by the Chief Judge or his or her designee for any lawful reason including no reason. Working Conditions Indoor laboratory environment; moderate noise environment while performing certain responsibilities. Lifting equipment up to 25 lbs. alone; up to 50 lbs. with assistance. Requirements

  • One (1) year of college courses (30 credits) or technical school or six months of related experience and/or training.
  • Valid driver license required with valid Florida driver license required within 30 days of hire.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized.
  • Able to resolve situations and problems that may require interpretation or minor adjustments to working methods.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities, including laws pertaining to probation, corrections, alcohol and drug treatment, and the criminal justice process.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to interact professionally and effectively with staff, clients, judicial officials, substance abuse and human services agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Able to communicate information that requires explanation or interpretation.
  • Works under moderate supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, or a related field desired.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in criminal justice or a related field desired.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts screening of offenders under the jurisdiction of the Manatee County Drug Court and outside agencies to determine level of substance addiction.
  • Supplies the courts with written and/or oral reports as requested.
  • Maintains a treatment-oriented caseload of drug court clients.
  • Provides services such as urinalysis screening, referral to non-residential treatment, etc.
  • Coordinates treatment efforts with appropriate judicial and/or other criminal justice agencies, such as Manatee County Probation, Department of Corrections, etc.
  • Maintains accurate records and statistics concerning testing and treatment program efforts.
  • Prepares reports as assigned.
  • Assists supervisor in the development of policies and procedures concerning collection, storage, and testing of urine.
  • Compiles statistical reports of urine tested.
  • Performs other related work (including weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required.
