About The Position

This is a professional position providing drug and alcohol abuse counseling to Behavioral Health clients. This is a professional position providing drug and alcohol abuse counseling to Behavioral Health clients.

Requirements

Minimum of an Associates of Arts degree.
Knowledge of alcoholism and drug addiction, substance abuse treatment techniques, and twelve-step recovery programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous required.
Recovering counselors must be drug and alcohol-free a minimum of two years prior to employment.
At least six months experience interviewing, screening and assessing abuse clients required.
Experience in objective testing (e.g., SASSI, AUP) related to substance abuse issues as well as training and/or education in substance abuse issues required.
Must be a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC); OR a Licensed Substance Abuse Associate (LSAA); OR have licensure as a Master's or doctorate level mental health counselor, social worker, or psychologist, e.g., LMHC, LPC, LMSW, RMHC, LPCC, LMFT, LPAT, LISW, LCSW, LCP.
Must have certification/licensure by date of hire and maintain current throughout employment.
Have or be able to obtain First Aid and BLS/CPR certifications within 30 days of hire.
This position requires successful completion of an initial post-offer of employment: According to PMS Human Resources Policy 205.006, “Healthcare Personnel Testing & Immunization Requirements,” this position must comply with required testing and immunizations. Testing and immunizations including TB, Hepatitis B (consent or waiver), Tdap, MMR, and Varicella, will be available at the employee’s PMS health center. Influenza vaccines will be required according to dates set by the CDC and NMDOH.
