Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and motivated Substance Abuse Counselor/Co-Occurring Specialist to join our Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) in Jacksonville, NC. This full-time role focuses on delivering direct outpatient Substance Use Disorder (SUD) services to individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders in community-based settings. With various specialized programs, Pyramid Healthcare is a leader in behavioral healthcare across North Carolina, committed to providing individualized, recovery-focused treatment plans to support long-term success.

Requirements

  • LCAS(A) or CADC required.
  • Ability to obtain required certification/licensure within 90 days of hire (if applicable).
  • Qualified Professional (QP) status per 10A NCAC 27G.0104.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally within the Jacksonville area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide community-based substance use treatment services to ACTT clients in homes and local community settings.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
  • Complete LOCAs, pre-authorizations, and clinical reviews in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain treatment plans, NCTOPPs, and discharge/aftercare plans aligned with client goals.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with families, referral sources, and support systems.
  • Deliver interventions for individuals with severe and persistent mental health conditions and substance use disorders.
  • Participate in on-call and emergency service rotation, including crisis planning, after-hours assessments, and hospital diversion.
  • Attend treatment team meetings and required staff trainings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
