About The Position

This is a professional position providing drug and alcohol abuse counseling to Behavioral Health clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associates of Arts degree.
  • Knowledge of alcoholism and drug addiction, substance abuse treatment techniques, and twelve-step recovery programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous required.
  • Recovering counselors must be drug and alcohol-free a minimum of two years prior to employment.
  • At least six months experience interviewing, screening and assessing abuse clients required.
  • Experience in objective testing (e.g., SASSI, AUP) related to substance abuse issues as well as training and/or education in substance abuse issues required.
  • Must be a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC); OR a Licensed Substance Abuse Associate (LSAA); OR have licensure as a Master's or doctorate level mental health counselor, social worker, or psychologist, e.g., LMHC, LPC, LMSW, RMHC, LPCC, LMFT, LPAT, LISW, LCSW, LCP.
  • Must have certification/licensure by date of hire and maintain current throughout employment.
  • Have or be able to obtain First Aid and BLS/CPR certifications within 30 days of hire. Certifications must meet the requirements listed in the document “BLS / CPR / ACLS & First Aid Training Resources” posted on Staurolite. It is your responsibility to keep your certifications current at all times.
  • According to PMS Human Resources Policy 205.006, “Healthcare Personnel Testing & Immunization Requirements,” this position must comply with required testing and immunizations. Testing and immunizations including TB, Hepatitis B (consent or waiver), Tdap, MMR, and Varicella, will be available at the employee’s PMS health center. Influenza vaccines will be required according to dates set by the CDC and NMDOH.
  • TB Test (and upon exposure in accordance with PMS Policies).
  • Criminal Records Check.
