About The Position

EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit agency dedicated to empowering and supporting over 70,000 people through 120 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is seeking a motivated part-time Substance Abuse Counselor to join our New Path Treatment Center located in Hempstead NY. Wage: $30.90 per hour Schedule: 6 to 10 Hours per week (5pm to 8pm Tues/Wednesday Evenings) + Must be flexible to cover Monday and Thursday evenings, same time. Location: 175 Fulton Ave in Hempstead NY - Suite 403 Primary Purpose of Job: The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for providing direct treatment services to clients of the New Path Treatment Center. The clientele consists of individuals presenting with substance use disorders and often, co-occurring mental health issues requiring integrated and comprehensive care.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Diploma in Human Services or a related field (such as Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling) and/or CASAC required. Licensed LMSW or LMHC preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of treatment experience in addiction services required.
  • Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.

  • Bilingual Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual, group, and family counseling sessions tailored to address substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues.
  • Offer consultation, education, and supportive treatment to family members and significant others involved in the client's recovery process.
  • Provide immediate emergency coverage and crisis intervention when necessary to ensure client safety and stability.
  • Continuously assess the client's clinical condition, progress, and response to treatment throughout the course of services.
  • Utilize the established, individualized recovery plan as the guiding framework for all therapeutic interventions and services provided.
  • Work closely with clinical supervision and, where applicable, criminal justice referral sources, to plan long-range recovery goals and identify necessary ancillary (community-based) referral sources for the client's continuing care.
  • Document all treatment sessions accurately and promptly, ensuring notes detail the date, type of service, nature of the counseling intervention, session length, and the client's ongoing progress in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct random urine drug screens as a diagnostic and monitoring tool to obtain clinical data to assess the client's progress toward treatment goals.
  • Perform all other relevant clinical and administrative duties as assigned by Program Director
  • Perform all other relevant duties as determined by Supervision and EAC NETWORK Administration.
