Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current letter of registration as a Counselor Intern (LCDC-I) or valid certification as a Certified Criminal Justice Professional Applicant Status (CCJP-A).
• Must obtain Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) license or CCJP certification within five years of registration.
• Valid driver's license in Texas with an acceptable driving record.
• Completion of Correctional Awareness Training (CAT) and annual in-service training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides substance abuse counseling and recovery skills training.
• Participates in offender orientation and educational groups.
• Interviews, screens, and evaluates offenders for program participation.
• Conducts comprehensive evaluations to assess recovery needs and re-offense risk.
• Participates in developing Individual Treatment Plans based on assessments.
• Maintains offender records and compiles data for reports.
• Acts as a liaison for training programs and workshops.
• Implements follow-up and aftercare plans for offenders prior to release.
• Develops Individual Progress Summaries for offenders at program conclusion.
