Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and motivated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) in Jacksonville, NC. This role provides direct outpatient Substance Use Disorder (SUD) services to individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders in community-based settings. Through our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), Cross-Area Services, ACTT, and other specialty programs, Pyramid Healthcare is a recognized leader in behavioral healthcare across North Carolina. Requirements

  • LCAS(A) or CADC required
  • Ability to obtain required certification/licensure within 90 days of hire (if applicable)
  • Qualified Professional (QP) status per 10A NCAC 27G.0104
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally within the Jacksonville area

Responsibilities

  • Provide community-based substance use treatment services to ACTT clients in homes and local community settings
  • Conduct individual, group and family therapy sessions
  • Complete LOCAs, pre-authorizations, and clinical reviews in a timely manner
  • Develop and maintain treatment plans, NCTOPPs, and discharge/aftercare plans aligned with client goals
  • Maintain ongoing communication with families, referral sources, and support systems
  • Deliver interventions for individuals with severe and persistent mental health conditions and substance use disorders.
  • Participate in on-call and emergency service rotation, including crisis planning, after-hours assessments, and hospital diversion
  • Attend treatment team meetings and required staff trainings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
