About The Position

The Submarine C5I Network Engineer position at Amentum involves providing technical support and engineering expertise for Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS) at the Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, CT. This role is crucial for ensuring the operational effectiveness of sophisticated naval systems, requiring hands-on involvement in testing, software development, and system evaluations.

Requirements

  • Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) or related engineering field.
  • 10 years experience in investigating, troubleshooting, and designing solutions for operational hardware and software.
  • Strong working knowledge of Kubernetes.
  • Advanced ability with interfacing in a LINUX Shell program.
  • Functional knowledge of virtual machine environments/applications.
  • Ability to travel as needed (Up to 20% of the time).

Nice To Haves

  • US Military systems/network experience.
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
  • Linux Professional Institute LPIC-3 Virtualization and Containerization.
  • Experience working alongside software engineers, specifically with SWFTS and Submarine Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I).

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical evaluation and perform corrective actions for Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS) according to DoD and Navy Maintenance Standards.
  • Support engineering tasks in testing and software development of SWFTS in line with engineering specifications.
  • Assist with test and evaluation; perform validations and verifications of SWFTS.
  • Assist in accomplishing Engineering Change Instructions.
  • Support systems engineering activities with expertise in software usability and regression testing.
  • Direct on-site customer interface for testing, survey, and other software engineering tasks as needed.
  • Comply with engineering documentation standards and review change proposals for equipment impact.
  • Provide engineering support in developing technical proposals and input on technical content.
