About The Position

Leidos seeks Subject Matter Experts to support NASA’s Network and Telecommunications organizations. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in network engineering with strong analytical and reliability-focused problem-solving skills. This role is vital to maintaining the operational integrity and uptime of NASA’s LAN, WAN, Mission, Firewall and Voice networks, supporting mission success across NASA centers and facilities. Applies specialized knowledge of primary technical or business discipline .Requires broad knowledge of several technical or business fields and extensive knowledge of his/her specialty. Technology expert on delivering technological or business requirements and solving problems within large and complex IT or business environments, which includes, but is not limited to Compute, Storage, Data Services, Network, Resource Management, Cybersecurity, Tool and Application development, and Government business models for finance, procurement and human resources. Provides technical expertise, guidance, and leadership in the given area of expertise. Job Overview: Support NASA Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) and Cybersecurity & Privacy Program (CSPP) goal to strengthen and improve Cybersecurity. This includes intrusion detection and incident response support, and the Cybersecurity Perimeter. The contractor shall incorporate appropriate safeguards in accordance with NASA Cybersecurity standards to ensure availability, integrity and confidentiality of the information and IT resources utilized in the performance of this contract. The contractor shall submit all data in accordance with applicable NASA standard format, timelines, and protocols. Documentation shall be in accordance required documentation. Intrusion detection is defined as the full range of activities aimed at detecting attempts to compromise the confidentiality, integrity or availability of NASA's network and information resources. This includes, but is not limited to, examining network traffic, log files. Incident response support includes activities such as identification, reporting, and when required, follow-up with the NASA Security Operations Center (SOC). Support CSPP through Denial of Service (DOS) prevention and mitigation at the Internet peering points, NASA Centers, and associated component facilities. Analyze the traffic passing into and out of the perimeters of the Corporate WAN and between each security zone at the Centers and associated component facilities and provide to CSPP & NASA SOC an analysis of the traffic showing, at a minimum, types of services, volume of traffic associated with the services, and connection origination/destination, and make available to Center Cybersecurity Official as required. Provide and maintain out-of-band management to CSPP: monitoring systems, data analysis engines, firewalls, IPS, and VPN systems. Implement and maintain Network Address Translation (NAT) methods to minimize exposure of internal network configurations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one of the following certifications; CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CASP, or Certified Information System Security Specialist (CISSP) certification or able to certify within 2 years after contract start.
  • Solid understanding of key communications tools, such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • US Citizenship is required and able to obtain at minimum Public Trust clearance.
  • Mid-Level - Bachelor and 8 years of experience or AA/AS and 12 years of experience.
  • High-Level – Bachelor and 12 years of experience.
  • Senior-Level – Bachelor and 16 years of experience.
