About The Position

The Therapeutic Learning Center Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program for students in a self-contained classroom that are identified with emotional and behavior struggles that affect their learning, and to enable them to achieve their maximum potential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative, engaging, and effective weekly lesson plans that contain all of the required components.
  • Facilitate IEP meetings, progress meetings, etc. for students on your caseload. Ensure full implementation of each student's IEP.
  • Deliver instruction utilizing appropriate resources, equipment, materials, technology and instructional strategies.
  • Provide differentiated instruction based on the student's individual level of functioning and preferred learning modalities.
  • Provide a positive role model of appropriate and respectful interactions with students and staff.
  • Foster behavior support strategies program wide and in the classroom. Develop and implement, and review clear and concise program & classroom rules, routines, procedures, and expectations.
  • Maintain constant and ongoing communication regarding students and all facets of the program.
  • Collaborate with support staff to incorporate student learning strategies for reaching, communication, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with social worker and program staff to support student's social-emotional learning needs
  • Follow the appropriate chain of command when questions, issues, and/or concerns arise.
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork within the designated timelines.
