About The Position

The Substitute Bus Monitor is responsible for assisting in providing safe transportation for children/students, ensuring they can enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the District's School program. This position involves maintaining good student conduct on the bus, assisting young or disabled students in getting on and off the bus, and ensuring that students board and disembark in an orderly fashion. The role also includes maintaining student discipline, keeping records, and driving school buses as a substitute when needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Acceptable Annual Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Current Bus Driver's Certificate.
  • Class B CDL with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.
  • Assist young or disabled students in getting on and off the bus.
  • Assure that students get on and off the bus in an orderly fashion.
  • Maintain student discipline.
  • Maintain records as assigned.
  • Drive school buses as a substitute when needed.
  • Perform simple data recording/record keeping operations.
  • Use basic addition and subtraction in performance of job.
  • Read and interpret routine written or printed materials.
  • Establish and/or maintain an existing filing system.
  • Follow generally standardized operating policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Benefits

  • Temporary/Duration of Need Contract.
  • 176 Days per year.
  • 6-8 Hours per day.
  • $9.00 an hour.
