Join our team as an experienced Sub-Assembler, specializing in the precision mechanical sub-assemblies that form the backbone of Beck’s ultra-reliable electric actuators. In this role, you’ll work independently from CAD drawings, blueprints, and written instructions to perform detailed mechanical assembly, precision fitting, alignment, and fastening of components. While primarily mechanical, you’ll also handle occasional electro-mechanical tasks such as basic wire processing and light soldering. Your expertise will ensure exacting quality standards, support Lean Manufacturing initiatives, and help train and guide fellow assemblers—delivering robust assemblies that keep Beck actuators performing flawlessly in the world’s most demanding industrial environments.

Requirements

  • 10 years of related mechanical assembly experience in precision manufacturing environments.
  • 2 or more years of successful performance with Beck sub-assembly work.
  • Proficient with hand tools and torque wrenches.
  • Working understanding of soldering electrical/ electronic components and basic electronic equipment such as multi-meters and hypot testers preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently from blueprints, sketches, oral, or written instructions without supervision or technical guidance.
  • Regular attendance and daily punctuality are necessary for performing the job.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Must have proven professional qualities including strong initiative, integrity, and the desire and ability to work effectively as a member of various work teams.
  • Possess a working knowledge and the ability to apply the concepts of Lean Manufacturing to achieve continuous production improvements.
  • Must be able to speak, write, and read English and interpret documents such as safety guidelines, method sheets, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Work overtime as needed when business demands require.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent is required.
  • Must be capable of standing for extended periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to perform repetitious tasks.
  • Must possess good manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment includes regular exposure to manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and respirators.

Responsibilities

  • Complete complex mechanical sub-assembly work including precision fitting, alignment, and fastening of components utilizing written instructions and CAD drawings.
  • Assist with instructing and developing employees on sub-assembly operations.
  • Participate in workplace organization projects and the integration of Lean concepts.
  • Perform other general shop duties or assist other departments as business demands require.
