About The Position

Sturgeon Restoration Project Intern This is a paid seasonal internship to begin no later than June 1st, 2026. The internship will run through the summer and end once the lake sturgeon have been tagged and released into the St. Louis River. The anticipated release date will occur in October. Rate of pay is $15/hour Scheduled hours will be 30 hours/week as follows: Saturday 10:30am-6:00pm Sunday 10:30am-6:00pm Monday 9:30am-6:00pm Tuesday 9:30am-6:00pm Some flexibility in the scheduled hours is anticipated in early June to accommodate the larval drift collection. Shifts will include two 15 minute paid breaks and a 30 minute unpaid lunch. During this internship, the intern will learn and be responsible for the following tasks under the supervision of the Project Manager and/or the Aquaculture Technician: -Diet preparation -Maintaining artemia cultures -Feeding -Tank cleaning and maintenance -Health observations of lake sturgeon at various stages of growth from egg to release -Water quality monitoring -Backwashing -Recordkeeping -Weighing, measuring, and sorting sturgeon -Other duties as assigned
