I. Position Summary: Placed at the Harvard Medical School affiliate Marcus Institute for Aging Research at Hebrew SeniorLife (https://www.marcusinstituteforaging.org), the Coordinator will support an eight-site hospital intervention trial across the U.S., the Evaluating Novel Healthcare Approaches to Nurturing and Caring for Hospitalized Elders (ENHANCE) trial (https://enhancetrial.org/). In addition, they will support other aspects of cognitive aging research in the areas of delirium and the intersection of delirium and dementia. The goal of the ENHANCE trial is to improve care of older patients by preventing delirium using the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP, https://help.agscocare.org), a multicomponent, non-pharmacologic program, and incorporating family caregivers into patient care. Effectiveness will be evaluated using state-of-the-art implementation evaluation science. HELP is a successful and evidence-based clinical program that can prevent delirium and falls, shorten hospital stays, and decrease admissions to nursing homes. The Coordinator will support all aspects of the project, including updating written protocols, developing agendas and study materials, writing minutes, monitoring and managing REDCap data entry, maintaining and updating web-based training material on iPads, maintaining operations manuals and the study website, coordinating implementation evaluation efforts, communicating with and supporting hospital study teams, and supporting day-to-day operations. We are looking for a person interested in cognitive aging, who is enthusiastic about supporting research with the goal to improve hospital care for older adults and their families. The Study Coordinator will work with the research team under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI, Dr. Sharon Inouye) and Project Director (Dr. Eva Schmitt).
