About The Position

The Study Abroad Advisor at the University of Florida is responsible for holistically advising students on a variety of study abroad programs, including faculty-led, exchange, and approved non-UF programs. This role involves providing comprehensive support on academic fit, credit transfer, financial aid, visa requirements, and the benefits of studying abroad. The advisor will also facilitate pre-departure orientations, advocate for students with administrative departments, and manage the application process for assigned programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and experience living or studying abroad.
  • Two years of appropriate experience in higher education or an education abroad setting.
  • Knowledge of best practices in Education Abroad.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization.
  • International experience (living, studying, teaching abroad).
  • Knowledge of a second language.
  • Familiarity with Terra Dotta Software, Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

  • Holistically advise students on study abroad programs and provide subject-matter expertise.
  • Provide comprehensive support on academic fit, credit transfer, costs, financial aid, visa requirements, and benefits of study abroad.
  • Host pre-departure orientations for students preparing for international travel.
  • Facilitate student interactions and advocate on their behalf with administrative departments.
  • Administer the application process for assigned study abroad programs, utilizing independent judgment.
  • Evaluate, interpret, and assign grade and credit conversions for study abroad transcripts.
  • Maintain expert understanding of university policies related to academic programs abroad.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and others regarding program policies and requirements.
  • Independently coordinate study abroad programs with faculty directors and academic offices.
  • Participate in outreach events and collaborate on special projects related to study abroad.

Benefits

  • Full-time position with a salary range of $46,000 - $49,000 per year.
